I got into town on Washington Avenue near the arts district. The district was completely empty. There was some resident foot traffic but there was nowhere for people to go in the district because of all of the vacancies. It looked like people were using the commercial parking lot for residential parking. They have an Arts Alley which remained and fairly well maintained.

I drove a little bit further away from town on Washington Avenue and encountered more vacants with a continuation of the art theme. It appeared that people wanted to play off of the arts district with a retail strip but it was vacant or converted to low income housing with the storefronts boarded and people living on the ground floor according to a neighbor.

Downtown had long lost the retail component to the downtown mall. I was told the mall had many vacancies. I was looking more at traditional downtowns and did not bother going into another dead mall. There was not that much retail left in the downtown. They had some streets blocked off for dining but there were not many people out and there were not that many restaurants participating.
