There were significant vacancies in Haight Ashbury. Many stores were completely vacant instead of stores with existing merchandise in the windows that were just not open.

There was outdoor dining set up, and it was primarily used for sleep quarters for the homeless. There were not many people on the street but a few sleeping in the out coves of the vacant buildings.

The art was terrific, and there were some signs of protest art, but primarily the art from the sixties was still prevalent in the downtown. I chatted with a few people standing around while I was taking pictures.

People were cheerful. I have visited here many times and know the area well.

It looked a little run-down.
