I stayed at a hotel in this town. It looked like the town had moved more to the interchange along the highway.

However, the downtown did exist and had some great murals with a historic bent. The story of electricity and water murals was detailed, and I spent a good amount of time photographing them and hanging out in the area. Unfortunately, there were some closed businesses and some fire-damaged buildings.

Rocky’s pawn shop was a hot spot. Since there was not that much to do in the traditional downtown, I thought maybe I should hock something but thought better of it.

The retail strip area next to the highway has many stores, and many are clustered around a grocery store. There were several grocery stores and national hospitality venues. I could not find an eat-in restaurant and got a pizza at Domino’s, and it was pretty tasty. Very strict mask policies, and everyone was taking it seriously.

The hotel front desk person told me that he was part of an effort to split California into two states. He took it seriously and delineated reasons.
