This town had had people and appeared to be a viable town. There were some vacancies, but there were not a lot of buildings. However, there were businesses open, and they had a hotel that appeared to be a destination. The Gage Hotel was well maintained and looked to cater to a better clientele. There was a well-maintained church and a house with a windmill.
There is a well-known Photographer that lives in Marathon. His studio was not open, but I took some photos of his studio and the businesses around it. That side of the street was a little dusty walking to his studio, two planks over the culvert. He had a storefront on the commercial strip across from his studio, but I did not visit.
