The city had many retail vacancies, and it was obvious that the office space was not being utilized when I visited. There were significant vacancies.
It was 99 degrees out the day that I visited, so that may have impacted why the town was a ghost town. The town had experienced protests, and I did not find too many signs of disruption. There were a few storefronts boarded.
There was also some construction on the streets. I saw this in other towns where the roadwork was being completed while there was minimum disruption to traffic. There was some sidewalk dining, but it did not appear that there was significant blocking off of the streets to increase the capacity for food and beverage establishments.
