I used Mountain View as my base for a couple of days as I looked at the Bay Area. The town was buzzing with a sophisticated outdoor dining scheme that appeared fairly permanent. Some towns have removable barriers, but the ones used in Mountain View were heavy, and they were not going anywhere. The streets were closed, allowing for easier rollout in the morning for the restaurants. It also left room for expansion for the businesses.

There appeared to be a lot of vacancies in the downtown, but some were related to proposed redevelopment projects. I was not sure if those projects were still on tap.

They had some nice design elements, like the metal archway leading to each ally. The stone barriers were round and added to the street presentation. The Fenwick West building had a dual sculpture that used the same design as the rounded street barriers.

The town was well maintained.
