I grew up in the Fess Parker Davy Crockett era and needed to see the Alamo. Visiting the Alamo was one of the things I wanted to do before I died. I was able to get a very nice hotel room relatively cheap, and I thought about spending two days there, but once I made my way around town, I felt I captured the essence of it in one day.

This town was jumping. There was a river walk, and people were dining and having a great time. The buildings on the street offer lower floor access to the Riverwalk water level. You can gain street access to the lower level attraction by walking 20 to 30 steps from street level. Most of the buildings had escalators and elevators, which made descending easier.

The virus impacted some areas, but for the most part, there was no mask with families crowded together with eating, drinking, and merriment. I was seated in Durty Nelly’s Irish Pub, and they had music that was a little too loud for me. So instead, I sat outside and enjoyed people watching as I dined on some fish and chips and a few Harp’s Pale lagers. The food was good watching the people was fun.

I went to the Alamo. It is a small building.
